For example, the ranking of the same pieces can be different. There are some differences between the American and European versions of the game. The modern game Stratego was manufactured in the Netherlands. The name Stratego was registered as a trademark in 1942. When all the player pieces are removed from the board, or they cannot move, the player loses the game. If the marshal attacks the spy, the spy loses as well. Any piece can defeat the spy and, consequently, the spy cannot defeat anything except for the marshal. The spy piece (s) is the only piece that can beat the marshal (ranked 1). ![]() In this case, the bomb is removed from the board. If a player attacks a bomb, his/her piece is removed from the board, except for when he/she uses an eight miner piece. At the same time, number nine scout can move only one direction in one turn. Number Nine scout can move any number of open squares left, right, forward, or backward.
